The deprecation of WMIC (Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line) in Windows 11 and its relocation to Features on Demand (FOD) is part of Microsoft's broader effort to modernize Windows, streamline the operating system, and shift to more modern management and automation tools.
Steps to add WMIC Utility as FOD (Feature on Demand)
Step-1 :- Use the windows taskbar's search menu to look up "Optional features" directly. Open the Optional features.
Step-2 :- Find and add an optional feature at the top of the optional features tab.
Step-3 :- Choose "View features" in that field. A pop-up window will open as a result.
Step-4 :- Type "WMIC" into the search field in the pop-up window to add an optional feature.
Step-5 :- Select “WMIC” by checking the box next to it when it shows up in the results below.
Step-6 :- In the same pop-up window, select Next and then Add button to add the “WMIC” Utility.
Step-7 :- After “WMIC” gets added, re-run your application. This "WMIC" utility will take some time to add it to the windows.
